Collecting Information

We will work in groups. We will handwrite Dayu’s statements about her in the past.

Here are what we will do. First, we will study the statements in the example carefully. Second, we will copy the example to our notebook. Then, in groups we will handwrite Dayu’s other statements from her other entries about her in the past in our notebook.

We will use a dictionary. We will spell the words and use the punctuation marks correctly. We will also say each word loudly, clearly, and correctly. If we have any problems, we will go to our teacher for help.

DAYU WHEN SHE WAS A BABY

1. She could not do anything.

2. Her parents and her elder brother took care of her.

3. She didn’t sleep with her mum.

4. She slept in a baby cot in her parents’ bedroom.

5. Her brother slept in his own bedroom.

6. Her mum breastfed her for two years.

7. When she cried, her parents and her brother calmed her down.

8. When she was afraid of something, they comforted her.

9. Her dad often carried her around in the morning sun.

10. When she got older, they spoonfed her.

11.She played with her brother.

12.She was naughty, but her brother was very patient with her.

PEMBAHASAN

Pada halaman 154 pada dasarnya adalah menulis kembali cerita yang ada di setiap teks yang ada dihalaman sebelumnya yaitu (152-153). Akan tetapi disesuaikan dengan pada saat kapan terjadinya.

Pada halaman 152-153 terdapat 8 kolom teks. Dimana :

• Teks 1-2 terjadi saat Dayu masih bayi "Dayu when she was a baby".
• Teks 3-4 terjadi saat Dayu masih TK "Dayu when she was in kindergarten".
• Teks 5-6 terjadi saat Dayu masih SD "Dayu when she was in primary school".
• Teks 7-8 membicarakan mengenai kenangan manis saat SD "Dayu's sweet memories in primary school".

Dan dalam menuliskan setiap kejadian di teks tersebut sebenarnya hanya mengganti pronoun (kata ganti) saja.

Dayu when she was in kindergarten

1. She started her kindergarten when she was five years old.
2. She did her kindergarten for two years, one year in kindy A and one year in kindy B.
3. Her kindy was near from her home.
4. She walked to her kindy with her mom or her brother.
5. Sometimes she went with her dad on his motorcycle.
6. In the classroom, her teacher read them stories.
7. The students sing happy songs.
8. They coloured pictures.
9. They played with dough and colorful paper.
10. In the playground, they played sliding.
11. They ran round.
12. They also played hide and seek.

Dayu when she was in primary school.

1. She started her primary school when she was seven years old.
2. She finished her primary school when she was twelve years old.
3. She also walked to school.
4. Her school was only 200 meters from her home.
5. She went to school with her brother or with her friends.
6. Sometimes her dad took her to school on his motorcycle.
7. Sometimes she walked to school by herself.
8. She learned many new things in primary school.
9. She learned to write and to read in Grade 1 and Grade 2.
10. Her favourite teacher was Mrs. Ningrum.
11. Mrs. Ningrum was very smart.
12. Mrs. Ningrum taught the students traditional dances and songs.
13. She also taught the students to plant trees and take care of the garden.
14. One day she took the students to the local library to borrow books.

Dayu's sweet memories in primary school

1. She and Her friends often helped Pak Min, the janitor.
2. Because he had so much work to do.
3. We felt happy when we could help him.
4. Her Physical Education (PE) teacher, Mr. Laode, often took the students to walk around the hills and along the river near their school.
5. They took a rest under the trees when they were tired.
6. She learned to ride on a bicycle in the schoolyard in the afternoon after school.
7. Then she could ride in the small streets in the neighbourhood with her friends.
8. She and her friends often spent hours chatting in the small green yard near the Kelurahan office.
9. The boys climbed the big trees.
10. They also swam in the river.
11. It was still very clean at that time.
